HARK! Let it be known, far and wide, that the Kingdom of Blackspire presents: The Elder Dragon Challenge!
Blackspire has some of the greatest visionaries and crafters in this glorious realm we all share. Many of us remember the first time they saw a true master's work, or fondly recall the first time their knight, clad in a belt of white, taught them how to grow past their limits and push the boundaries of what was once thought impossible.
As the Dark Prince, I say BULLY to all of that! What good is all of this "mentorship" and "improvement" when the throne of the elder dragon sits empty atop the grand spire at the heart of this land? No. This will not do.
SERPENT MASTERS AND SERPENT KNIGHTS! This is your time. This is your hour. This is your chance to show the populace what a master can do, and the depths of the abilities and knowledge that we love and admire. Further, this is also our chance to help grow the art and culture of our kingdom through an auction!
THE ELDER DRAGON CHALLENGE is a one-item (individuals with multiple masteries may submit multiple pieces if they desire) contest that will not be judged by other experts, but the community at large. Each Master and Serpent knight will receive one entry (again, with the option of doing more per mastery they hold if desired), which will be entered into a community showcase at PacWar. During the event, Each attendant at PacWar will be given two votes. These votes will be cast at the showcase, where the participant will use them to vote on the two most impressive and striking pieces.
For those who participate, it will be requested that the piece provided also be something that can go up for auction. Why? Because there will be an auction of course! That's right! If individuals seek to take the generous path, these items will be available for bidding! Each piece designated for the auction portion will have a minimum price set by the creator, and proceeds will be split evenly between the artist and the scribes guild!
That's right! Not only do you have a chance to prove yourself as the greatest among your peers (for this year at least 😉), but you will be able to know you supported the hardest working artists in the kingdom in creating and funding the pieces that we all cherish.
TL;DR: The Elder Dragon challenge is a single entry, Serpent Master and Knight invitational competition that is judged by audience vote at PACWAR. Pieces have no time limit (meaning the piece can have been created multiple years ago), and can be previous competition entries (or used for Dragon Master, which will also occur at PacWar!). The winner will be given the annual title (😉)of Elder Dragon of Blackspire. If a piece is given to the auction portion, the creator will set a minimum bid, and the auction will continue for a week after PacWar.
