Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that Camp Taloali is located on the traditional lands of the Santiam Kalapuya, a band of the Kalapuya people who have cared for this region for countless generations. In 1855, through the Willamette Valley Treaty, the Kalapuya and other Indigenous peoples were forcibly removed and relocated to what are now the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Today, their descendants continue to sustain their cultures, languages, and communities.

We honor and recognize the enduring relationship that Indigenous peoples have with this land and express our respect for their resilience, sovereignty, and traditions. As we gather at Camp Taloali, we do so with humility, awareness, and a commitment to equity and justice.
